Why Grapefruits Suck
I have always had a dislike for grapefruit. Ever since the first time I excitedly licked a grapefruit half, thinking it would be sweet, only to find out that it is VERY NOT SWEET. In fact, it is BITTER. Not even sour, like a lemon. It’s just bitter. And gross. So the only logical thing to do from there is become spiteful towards a fruit.
But Josh, you might say, that’s crazy! Just because something tastes bad, doesn’t mean you have to hate it! Well, there’s more! Grapefruit is essentially a big practical joke on us by Mother Nature. Just look at it. It’s all sweet and citrusy looking. They all have inviting, sweet-looking colors. It looks like a fruit that wants to party and have a good time in your mouth; like a fruit that wants to provide you with delicious tastes that only a PINK fruit could provide.
But when you taste it, IT IS THE OPPOSITE. It is bitter and acidic and AWFUL. Good one Mother Nature! You got me! I thought this fruit would be delicious, but it is horrible. You sure fooled me, you crazy old broad!
So yes, grapefruit is nature’s tease. Gets you all excited and then leaves you disappointed.
Hello, my name's Josh and I might be a hipster (you decide!). I've been blogging and designing in some form for the past eight or so years and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it (once again, you decide!). I love indie music, coming of age stories, sarcasm, video games, and aesthetics. At the moment I'm working part-time and going to college with hopes of being a web designer.

That’s why you put sugar on it! :P

Lololololol. Adjskds. I love you.
I also love the smell of grapefruit. And it’s okay when mixed with other fruit. But generally, not good unless SUPER ripe.

I hated grapefruit when I was a kid, but I love them now. I even eat them without sugar! The smell of it is so amazing. I think grapefruit really is one of those acquired tastes. You have to like the bitterness of it, although it you try the very ripe Ruby Reds from Texas, they’re pretty much more sweet than bitter. :D
Reply: Yeah, some of them are sweeter, but I decided to ignore their existence for the purpose of this post. :P

I’m really not a fan of grapefruit either. If it was just sour, I wouldn’t mind it. But the bitterness… ugh!

The grapefruits in my fridge are offended.
Reply: Tell them I hate them! *shakes fist*

This relationship is over. We obviously have some fundamental differences that we will never be able to work out. BAI.
Reply: I could have told you that. BUT I STILL STUCK IT OUT. You quitter.

And grapefruits are so sour because they were unloved as children.

Oh-em-gee, you called Mother Nature a crazy old broad! That takes spunk.
I have also been duped by grapefruit. They are loathsome.

Hahahaha, so funny but true! Grapefruit is quite deceptive, even the name is deceptive: grape-fruit? It’s not grape-like at all, other than the shape, but all fruits are round!
My friend always says that “Mangoes are Mother Nature’s candies.” Do you think mangoes look sweet?
Reply: Well, they look pretty sweet. They’re all gradient-y and stuff with their orange inside. I think they’re okay, I don’t like the hassle of trying to eat it.

I have a love/hate relationship with grapefruit. Sometimes I think the taste isn’t so bad and other times I can’t stand it. Like, the first initial taste I don’t think is awful, I think it’s after you swallow, it’s like EW! I don’t know really. It’s a tricky fruit, tht’s for sure. It definitely doesn’t look like it tastes or taste like it looks for that matter.
