My cat is kind of stupid

As Clem will tell you, I have a small army of cats in my house at the moment. Three older cats, two of which are sisters, and five kittens that one of the sisters just had. But technically only one of those cats is mine – the sister that wasn’t prego. She is a very nice kitty, and I named her Emma.

Now, Emma is very affectionate and generally well-behaved. One bad thing she does, though, is eat food on the counter. You may be thinking, “Oh, yeah, my cat eats chicken and stuff off the counter, too.” Well, that is nice, but Emma doesn’t really eat any meat off the counter – not that she really has a chance; we don’t leave our food unattended often. No, my stupid cat likes to eat weird people food.

For example, I have a plastic bag of sandwich rolls on the counter, among other bread. For SOME reason, my cat decides that she LOVES sandwich rolls and tears open the bag to eat one and a half sandwich rolls. WHY? Why on earth would a cat tear open a bag of sandwich rolls, among other equally delicious bread? More importantly, why does my cat want to eat bread? I mean, sure, it’s good and stuff, but it’s just bread.

Another time we had a lemon pie on the counter, and it was in a paperboard box with a thin plastic-sheet window so you could see the pie. Apparently this pie looked REALLY GOOD. Emma could not resist it and she broke the plastic window (which also involved her smushing her paw into the pie) and ate some of it. I DON’T GET IT. What kind of cat eats lemon pie? Apparently my cat.
